Dr. Oliver Dam

Dr. Oliver Dam, affectionately known as Dr. Oliver, is a talented and compassionate dentist with a zest for life, who recently joined the team at Total Health Dental Care. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Dr. Oliver returned to his roots after several years away to be closer to his family. Dr. Oliver's journey to dentistry was inspired by his grandmother, who encouraged him to become a dentist so he could alleviate her toothache. He attended the University of the Pacific as part of an accelerated program, completing both his undergraduate studies and dental school in just six years. Dr. Oliver then went on to complete a Biomimetic Mastership, an extensive restorative program, and has taken numerous advanced continuing education courses on occlusion, cosmetic dentistry, and laser dentistry. He is a proud member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Alameda Dental Society. With extensive experience in the dental field since 2016, Dr. Oliver has worked in various types of practices. Prior to joining Total Health Dental Care, he worked in Walnut Creek, San Francisco, and spent four years in Merced, where he gained valuable experience in endodontics and oral surgery. Driven by his strong sense of community, Dr. Oliver has a history of volunteering. While living in Merced, he participated in Tzu Chi events, providing free dental care to the underserved community. Dr. Oliver believes his primary responsibility is to provide patients with a comfortable environment in which they can learn and understand their oral health and treatment options. He is dedicated to ensuring his patients feel at ease asking questions and confident in the treatment they choose. Outside the dental office, Dr. Oliver is an avid traveler, photographer, and culinary enthusiast. He enjoys experimenting with new recipes, frequenting farmers markets, and discovering unique ingredients to incorporate into his cooking. He's even mastered the art of making duck prosciutto and sticky toffee pudding! A sports lover, Dr. Oliver plays tennis, explores local trails, and recently discovered the fun world of pickleball. At Total Health Dental Care, Dr. Oliver is thrilled to be part of a strong support system and well-organized practice, where he can combine his passion for dentistry and fun-loving personality to provide the highest level of care for his patients.

I believe that my patients deserve the best dentistry possible and that patient experience is key to my success as a doctor. I’m dedicated to making sure each of my patients feels relaxed, comfortable and confident in the treatment. To that goal, I enjoy explaining each diagnosis and encourage my patients to ask any questions they may have. I also strive to empower my patients with the knowledge to take control of their health. I focus on prevention and use nutrition as a tool to help patients overcome long-term dental issues such as gum disease, loss of teeth and cavities. I love people and seek to develop lasting professional relationships with my patients.

At Total Health, we do everything under one roof. Our team of specialists do everything from periodontal treatments to oral surgery, orthodontic and implants.

What are you proud of in your practice?

I am proud of the excellent dentistry and exceptional experience we provide. Our patients rave about us on Yelp and Google. It’s fulfilling to see a new patient come in with some level of anxiety and leave feeling 100% comfortable with and confident in the cleaning or treatment. Our patients leave feeling good about themselves. They leave smiling.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

Since dentistry is a combination of science and art, every case is fulfilling. I really love helping people. It’s an incredible feeling to see a patient smile with confidence and genuine happiness after an office visit.
